Funding a retreat for yourself or another may not be quite so tricky as it might at first seem! There are a number of options available.

Crowdfunding is a term widely used in the 21st Century to refer to the possibility of generating income through a crowd of people.

For a retreat, you might put out a message to your church or local businesses explaining the cost to send an individual, couple, or small group to a retreat (that may well include travel costs too).

As an example: you could split the retreat into one hour units to make it more affordable;

Friday 12pm - Sunday 12pm is 48 hours. At, say, £480 for a couple to attend (with travel), each hour of the break could be ‘sponsored’ for £10 per hour. You could then ask, 'How many hours could you sponsor?'

Acts 435 is a great opportunity for other Christians, not known to you, to fund your Anew Retreat places. We have already had our retreat guests funded by the generous ACTS 435 funders!

See their website for more details:

Please don't just assume that there are no grants out there to cover your retreat. Try a Google search for ‘small holiday grants for adults’ for example, and several come up. Would any of these suit your needs?

You could also try local small grants from, for example: Lions Club, Rotary Club, Churches, Mother's Union, Relief in Sickness Fund etc.

If you are Anglican Clergy, then you can apply for one of their Wellbeing grants below:
